I believe this is a caring practice and represents midwives in the way they were meant to practice- with emotional support along with a wonderful knowledge of the birthing experience. The focus of this practice is about treating each individual in a way that is best for them.
I was looking for MW's who would let me be a part of the decision making process. This was key for me. I found a great balance in Kate and Jane because they were knowledgeable yet were willing to explain details to me when I had questions. They made me feel like I was in control of my birth and yet encouraged me to remember that we can't predict or prevent everything.
I had two issues that arose during the pregnancy. I wanted to know the best and worst possible outcomes. They were honest and gave me solid information. We knew when to worry and when to wait and see. Ultimately, they allowed me to be in charge of what risks I was willing to take and what I would be cautious about. That level of autonomy and respect instilled in me so much respect for them. They were orderly, yet flexible.
They were amazing at knowing just how close by to be... first in the hall while I was alone with my husband, then in the doorway, then at arms length. I never had to ask for anything, they anticipated it before I even knew I needed anything. I was really impressed at their instincts. They won over my very skeptical mom and my apprehensive husband. Anyone who wants a natural, relaxed birth should consider the RM midwives - they helped make our homebirth wonderful. They handled all of the unexpected things with grace and calm - they were truly unflustered which allowed us to be peaceful and content. It was a great experience.
After birthing at home with Kate and Jane, I don't think I could get better care with more personal attention anywhere else. I truly feel that if I have another child, I will be safest and get the best care from Rising Moon.
I chose to work with Rising Moon to have a home birth experience as my first childbirth was horrible I wanted to be without drugs or the dreaded medical world. They helped make the birth of my second daughter a beautiful experience, I was able to feel confident in my natural ability to give birth and felt sure of their ability to care for me if any problem should arise.
Kate, Merle, and Jane,
I thought this card was perfect - 'The Three Graces.' Thank you so much for such a wonderful birth experience. You each played different roles - you work so well together. I am always bragging about how comfortable I felt having a home birth and how truly magical it was. I can't thank you enough for affecting so many people in such a positive way. The universe thanks you!
Love and peace,
Dear Kate and Jane,
Thank you so much for helping me through my first birth. I really appreciate your stepping in for me on such short notice. It was such a privilege to have a homebirth. I am so glad you were there. You and Jane were the best - especially coming from another birth - I would never had known because you were both so calm and unhurried. I appreciate your professionalism and your kindness. Thank you, for all that you have done.
Dear Kate and Jane,
Thank you so much for taking such wonderful care of us through my pregnancy and birth. I feel blessed to have had such a beautiful experience, and now such positive memories. I will always remember our walk through West Chester on that beautiful summer afternoon with great fondness.
I only home that you get as much as you give with all the women who are lucky enough to find themselves under your care.
All my love,
Lovely Kate and Jane,
There are so many things I could say about our experience with you during our pregnancy and birth... We want you to know that you are inspiring and so wonderful - we love knowing you! Thank you for helping us learn to trust the process. We want you to know that we truly trusted you and felt your sensitivity and guidance through all of it. Thank you for being such an encouraging friend during this season. We definitely miss seeing you every week!
We love you!
Mariko, Daniel, and Owen
Kate and Jane,
It is difficult to find the words to express how grateful we are for your support, kindness, and hard work. Thank you for everything.
Hania, Dan, and Ronin
Dear Kate and Jane -
Blessings and light to you in this solstice and season. May 2008 bring love, abundance, contentment, adventure and joy to your home and family. And may we all continue to grow as midwives and women to serve this community... Here's to great births and legal status for CPMs in the year to come! Hope to see you soon.
Dear Rising Moon,
In the past 8-9 months we have gotten to know each other, we have enjoyed your wisdom, appreciated your understanding and the knowledge you have imparted to us. It is funny where life's journey takes you and the people that one encounters on this journey. We were so thrilled to discover your close proximity and the services you rendered were all in alignment for the exact expectations for the birth we wanted for William. We don't think we could have gotten any better prenatal care then as we did with you! Any problems we encountered, you were always there to make sure we were taking the correct action that we felt comfortable with. You kept up with our relentless list of questions. We were intrigued by your approach, knowing how much to intervene or not was very refreshing. Thank you for guiding us through this stretch of our journey to get to William. We hope that our paths cross again.
Love Carolyn, Henry and William
Dear Kate & Merle
First let me take this time to say Thank you for everything you did for us. Nayah is now 1 years old, and is a pleasure to watch and play with. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of all of you. I sing your praises because it is greatly deserved. Keep fighting the good fight.
Yvonne & Nayah
Dearest Kate, Jane and Merle
Thank you doesn't even begin to express our heartfelt gratitude for all you did as our midwives and bringing our dear Joseph into the world. God has definitely put the three of you together. All three of you have unique gifts and are so full of love and caring for your clients. Greg and I felt total peace having you share Joseph's birth. We appreciate the space you gave us while I was laboring. We thank God for your skill and quick care for Joseph when we experienced difficulties. You responded so well. Lord willing when we are blessed with another child we would love to be your clients again.
Lisa and Greg
Thanks so much for your guidance and assistance. It means a lot to feel supported and well cared for while my husband is far away.
Thank you for being my midwife! I had the best birth experience with you. 100 times better then the birth I had before. I appreciate everything you did for us and I hope I will have a reason to call you again!
Amy and baby Henry
Dear Kate, Jane and Merle,
This pregnancy was a tough one for me since I was sick constantly. Despite all of that, you three were always there to quell my fears. I want to say thank you for your faith and confidence in my pregnancy, my body and our newest addition, Nathan. He is such a joyful, happy baby all the time. You truly have, what I believe is, one of the most important jobs in the world, and you do such a wonderful job at it. "You are the heart, you are the hands, you are the voice of spirit on earth--and who you are, and all you do is a blessing to the world." (Drucker)
Sarah and baby Nathan
Your conviction, compassion, bravery and commitment are so rare. Thank you for being who you are!
Thank you again - so much - for everything!
Thank you so very much for helping people out! We appreciate you willingness to work out the details with us so we could have a homebirth.
Karissa is growing so beautifully. My heart sings with joy every time I look at her. Thank you again for making it possible to have her at home. What a magical, powerful moment.
joy joy joy.
I can't believe Orion will be one this Friday. I have to tell you once again that you are the best midwife ever!
Thank you so much for helping our family have the birth we wanted. You provided the perfect comforting yet unobtrusive presence to welcome our baby. I hope you continue to do what you do and love what you do for a long time. Next time I promise to choose a larger room!
Thank you for being a part of our family during a special moment in our lives. God Bless. I speak blessings over your business and lives.
Shamika and baby Noah
Thanks so much for your guidance, support knowledge professionalism and friendship. You were such a catalyst in bringing into our lives a baby that has changed our lives forever. She is a healthy, smart and charismatic child and almost one! If we paid you what your services were really worth it would take a lifetime.
Thank you so much for being such a wonderful support to me during such an outrageous time in my life. I don't think you will ever understand how important you were to me at that time.
Thank you for the wonderful gift of Berenice's safe and gentle arrival into the world. Your intuition made this experience very special and spiritual for us.

Patrick is now 20 days old. Sometimes I just look at him and I canÕt believe the miracle that he is. I love to tell people how he came into the world. I canÕt imagine having my child in a hospital with bright lights amongst strangers. My child was brought into the world in his own home, surrounded by his family and friends. My support was incredible. Every time I looked up from my labor, I saw a familiar face. PatrickÕs birth was, without a doubt, the most incredible moment of my life.
mom to Patrick, HBAC
Our baby's birth was amazing and the care we received prenatally was as well. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything you do.
Sarah and Chris
Thank you so much for accompanying this pregnancy and beyond in the way you do! We are grateful that you were always there when we needed you. With our love and best wishes for your future.
Thank you so much for attending Abby's birth. It was a truly blessed event, and the support you lent me from the time you arrived was wonderful. Thank you for being there and supporting my birth vision so Abby could come into my waiting arms.
Love and light,
Sarah and baby Abigail
Happy Midwife Anniversary! I am so glad you decided to become a midwife- you bring such a powerful quality to birth. Thanks for everything you do.
Thank you for being with us for Peter's birth. Your input was helpful and having you there during the long period of time was a comfort. We appreciated the time you spent with us.

Kate, Merle, and the Rising Moon staff are phenomenal women and I am blessed and honored to be working with them in preparation for my upcoming homebirth. I met Kate while I was researching homebirth midwives in the Delaware area in anticipation of conceiving our first child. From our first conversation, Kate radiated a positive spirit and passion for natural birth and I knew that she was very special. I immediately decided that I wanted to work with Rising Moon Midwifery if and when I was blessed to be able to conceive and have a homebirth. From the beginning, Kate has been very supportive, encouraging, informative, sisterly, caring, and she has skillfully guided me in every step of the way from preconception, pregnancy, and now our imminent childbirth. My husband and I are very fortunate to have found Rising Moon and we are thankful and excited to be part of their family. I can't say enough positive things about them! I am looking forward to my homebirth with joyful anticipation and I am totally prepared as I am armed with knowledge, confidence, and love provided by the Rising Moon midwives.
I have given birth to all three of my children at home
and am planning to give birth to my forth child (due in February) at
home. My experiences of giving birth at home have been wonderful. In
all three cases I was happy with my prenatal, and afterbirth care, as
well as the exceptionally professional and caring service I received
from my midwives, during my labors. I do believe that giving birth in
my home increased my relaxation and sense of well being during labor;
therefore making my labors and deliveries safe and incredibly peaceful
and happy. I do believe that giving birth at home increased the ability
of my husband and me to bond with our babies in those precious early
hours of life! I have often exchanged birth stories with friends,
women in my family and even acquaintances at the park. When I compare
the feelings, and even the outcomes (apgar scores, general health, speed
of recovery, lack of complications etc.) of my births to those of women
who have shared their hospital birth stories with me, the results I have
had with homebirth are overwhelmingly more positive than those of the
other women. Due to my general good health, and lack of complications
during pregnancy, I have been a perfect candidate for giving birth at
home. I realize that, while it is not a safe option for every mother,
I believe it is a safe and joyful opportunity for many more mothers than
are currently choosing home birth as an option.
I was strong because you were with me.
Thank you for the exceptional care that you provided during Lydia's development and birth. It is simply not possible that anyone could have provided better care in any setting. Everything that you did and the way that you did it exceeded our expectations and hopes. Sadly it is rare to find people who really do what they say, but you have proven to be an exception and have helped make our lives a bit better for having known you.
Ronda and Steve
I can't thank you enough for all you did for us. You went above and beyond again and again. If I had a million dollars I would give you half!
I wish you much success in your work - any woman who has you attending to her in pregnancy and childbirth is a blessed woman.
Our third son was born at home. He was born at 5:00 in the morning. By 7:00 in the morning, Kate, Merle and Jane had done a great job taking care of us and they went on their way. At 7:30 our son's two older brothers came into our bedroom and met their little brother for the first time. It was an incredible moment for us to all be together. Our son was not born in a hospital, surrounded by machines, doctors, and drugs. He was born at home. We never had to come home from the hospital; we were already home. We did not need to send the older children somewhere else in the middle of the night; they stayed at home with us, sleeping in their beds.
Delphine and Dan
I've never been able to thank any of you enough or properly for the wonderful care I received during my birth.
The kindness you showed to me and my family during my labor and birth made all the difference to me. It helped me have the kind of birth experience we were hoping for this time. Thanks for being so flexible and helping us fill the tub when the faucet adapter didnÕt work. WeÕll make sure to work out that kink for next time!
I wish you much success in your work - any woman who has you attending to her in pregnancy and childbirth is a blessed woman.
Best birth yet, everything we could have wanted.
Thank you again for believing in me. I just downloaded the pics from Teddy's birth and the photographs show the beauty of birthing. Absolutely amazing and wonderful. I feel like I am a new woman, healed from Phoebe's traumatic birth, and ready to begin a new chapter in my life - one of being a happy mom! I couldn't have done it without you. You are a blessing, an answer to my prayers at a time when I had no hope of a vaginal birth. Not only did I have a vaginal birth, but I had a beautiful and healing birth.
